TRAVEL DIARY| WHEN IN JAMAICA

(We filmed the trip, please click here to watch the vlog)

I love travelling (although I don’t really enjoy flying. I have flight anxiety). Prior to getting married, I traveled to UK, United States a few times, Cuba and a few cities in different provinces in Canada.

My husband and I didn’t go to our honeymoon after we got married. We couldn’t decide on a location and working full time at a corporate job, our vacation days are very limited (15 days paid vacation for the whole year). This year we planned our days accordingly and finally had a chance to go to our honeymoon. Seven days all inclusive vacation in JAMAICA! My husband is Jamaican and I am Congolese (we live in Canada, Toronto). Visiting Congo and Jamaica was a priority on our bucket list. We were beyond excited.

Jamaica is everything I imagined and more. Although we didn’t really get a chance to do excursions due to the rain, the experience was unforgettable. Visiting Jamaica won’t be removed from our bucket list anytime soon.

When to visit Jamaica?

Mid-Dec–May is peak travel season, particularly during college students’ Spring Break (Mar–Apr). Key annual events include Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival (Jan), a concert series at Rose Hall Great House; Bob Marley’s Birthday Bash (Feb); Carnival (Apr); and the Reggae Sumfest, a music festival held each Jul. During rainy/hurricane season (Jun–Nov), some attractions might be closed. The weather is warm year-round. source

We stayed at Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach resort, in Montego Bay. We found a good deal via  selloffvacation.com  (In my opinion selloffvacations and expedia are the most: affordable, straightforward and well detailed website for all inclusive vacations).

The Cornwall Beach resort is new (only 7 months old). The place is amazing. Great for couples and family. Absolutely beautiful. Very clean and well maintained. The food was good, but, I wish they served more traditional Jamaican dishes than other cultural dishes. The beach (they provide you towels for the beach) and the staff are very good. The entertainment and activities were okay, needed little bit of improvement. I would recommend it to anyone as we are planing to go back soon, by God’s grace.
